School Choice

School Choice Scholarship Program

School Choice was established in 1998 by several community leaders to ensure that children from low-income backgrounds could have access to quality education. The founding members believed that all children should have the same opportunities for academic success. They realized that, too often, low-income families do not have a choice for their children’s school.

In the 15 years since the founding, School Choice has awarded more than 4,500 scholarships to Louisville’s children to attend more than 60 private and parochial schools throughout the community. School Choice Scholarships are available to students in kindergarten through the 8th grade who meet certain income requirements. School Choice scholars consistently show enormous improvements in academic performance and their families report much improved behavior and enthusiasm for learning.
